We chat with local entrepreneurs Ben Gill-Carey and Ryan Platts about how they grew a small uni project into Plymouth's biggest house and techno party, Casa.
If you live in Plymouth or any of the surrounding areas and house and techno is your thing, it's likely you've been to one of Ryan and Ben's events. Their parties have become synonymous with electronic music culture in the south west and have been the catalyst for a huge growth in the popularity of house and techno in the the city.
At times where venues have been an issue for some promoters, Casa have innovated taking their parties to locations like the Reel Cinema, disused warehouses and even a local ski slope car park, alongside running events in more traditional places like the university main hall, Pryzm and the Guild Hall.
As their nights have grown, Casa have attracted big names to Plymouth including Annie Mac, CamelPhat and Patrick Topping, putting them at the forefront of Plymouths electronic music resurgence. In our chat with Ben & Ryan they shared how they grew Casa from a small side-room uni project into Plymouth's biggest and most loved house and techno party.
