Meet Gareth Whittock, one of the newest members of the dBs Music Bristol team as a module leader for our BA (Hons) Live Sound degree.
Gareth comes from a background of composing and performing for both live and broadcast mediums. His live work has taken him as far afield as Japan and the USA as well as numerous European gigs.
He is fascinated by the creative potential offered by live sound, particularly multiple speaker setups, in conjunction with signal processing and actively explores the integration of composition and the means by which it will be disseminated.
He runs Aum Guitars - a company that makes unique guitar designs for sound designers and film/game composers, including Junkie XL (Wonder Woman, Mad Max Fury Road).
He is currently involved in a number of innovative projects including writing a multi-channel live looping MaxMSP patch for a gig in California in 2020, designing a new type of guitar pedal with Duesenberg Guitars and developing a novel type of digital sound synthesis. He is also about to launch an experimental online concert in the new year.
He also likes growing vegetables.
