Free Software Friday - Transpire by Sonic Anomaly

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

Transient designers let you control the attack portion of audio and shape the transients to either shorten and enhance them or soften. Mainly used on drums for adding extra crispness and punch, they can also be used creatively to sculpt other sounds or help isolate elements from a sample.

This free plugin from Sonic Anomaly is Mac and PC compatible and has another trick up its sleeve besides the control of the transient attack portion. Transpire also allows for enhancement or dampening of the sustain portion of a sound too. So, working alongside the attack, you can really dig into the shape of your sounds. There's a an output hard clip at -0.1dB which can be toggled on and off, but we'd suggest leaving it on to save your ears and speakers while you're learning, first work out just how hard you can push those transient spikes!

There are a stack more great free plugin on the Sonic Anomaly site too, so worth a look!
