Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.
Thanks to SuperflyDSP, we're able to present not one, not two, not three but four free plugins to sample over the weekend.
Those four plugins are the FlyingWahWah, FlyingChorus, FlyingPhaser and FlyingTremolo. Each is presented in a minimalist interface and takes inspiration from analog guitar pedals. That throwback inspiration bleeds into the features on offer too, and apart from Host Sync which allows you to synchronise the LFO rate to your DAWs BPM, you won't be inundated with modern controls and features.
Though the interface is quite pleasing, especially thanks to its art style, getting a handle on the controls was a little tricky for us at first. Sliders jump to where you click, so you need to hold down ctrl key to fine tune. The interface isn't resizable either, and with its small GUI this can make working with it a little jarring at the start.
That said, we still had a lot of fun adding some vintage tones to our tracks with SuperflyDSP's plugins and for the price tag, each is well worth checking out if you've got a soft spot for old school modulation effects.
All four plugins are available for both Windows and Mac (VST3) and can be downloaded for free using the link below.
