Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.
We'll hold our hands up now and say that we've already spoken at length about LABS, and for good reason. With the regular release of new instruments, we rarely feel the need to write about every single one, however Spitfire's latest, London Atmos, is something quite special.
Citing Musique Concrète, Jon Hopkins and Burial, London Atmos uses the capital city to create this luscious collection of soundscapes. Field recordings have been warped and moulded into percussion, pads and atmospheric loops that can be made into whatever you choose.
It's a fantastic approach to Spitfire's already stellar work for LABS, and one that we hope to see them pursue with future releases.
London Atmos can be downloaded for free as part of Spitfire Audio LABS. Use the link below to download the Spitfire Audio Player which will then allow you to download any of the free instruments currently released. You are required to create an account to access LABS, but signup takes no more than a couple of minutes.
