Free Software Friday - Riot Audio's Bowed Glass Clouds

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

An ideal addition to anyone working with music for picture, Bowed Glass Clouds is a new cinematic morphing pad from Riot Audio. Running in Konakt 5.8 and above, this single page virtual instrument is based on recordings of bowed resonant glass bowls and jars, as well as a few selected sound design sources including a household hoover, and an Ebow-driven resonator guitar.

Bowed Glass Clouds employs two main layers (A and B), which also contain two sublayers each. These layers come with Amount and Speed controls as well as three octave ranges, resulting in a total of 12 layers of sound. Thanks to the proprietary CLOUDS engine you can morph, blend and automate between these layers to create some unique and interesting sounds.

Additionally there are also distortion, BP filter frequency, reverb and delay effects that can be applied to each layer, as well EQ controls (low, mid and high).

Bowed Glass Clouds is available for free until 31st July 2019. You'll be asked to subscribe to the Riot Audio newsletter where you'll be emailed a link to download your copy.
