Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.
Ableton Live users will have seen recently that the 10.1 beta was released earlier this month, including a host of exciting new functions, one of which being the ability to create user wavetables. What's more exciting is that Meta Function has developed the Wave Weld, a free Max for Live algorithmic wavetable generator designed to create wavetables for any wavetable device.
Wave Weld features phase shift and curve shape controls for Sine, Saw, Pulse and Triangle waves, additive style synthesis for both positive and negative phase angles and random waveshape quantization. You can also export, as well as load and adapt any custom made wavetable.
Being a Max for Live device users will need either Live Suite or Standard with the Max for Live extension to use Wave Weld. It's advised that 10.1 is used to run the plugin as well as an install of Max version 8.0.2, though the full license is not required.
Wave Weld is available to download for Mac and PC using the link below.
