Free Software Friday - Acustica Audio Sienna Free

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

How's this for a summer treat: Acustica Audio have released Sienna Free; a lite version of their Sienna Acqua environment emulation plugin suite which is available for free until October 1st 2021.

Some of you may be familiar with Sienna, but for those of you who are not, the software exhaustively recreates the listening experience of control rooms, monitors, headphones and more. It's similar to Sonarworks' SoundID software (previously called Reference 4), if you've ever worked with that before.

Included in the lite version is the Sienna Rooms plugin, HOG SUN218 Sub room and over 180 headphone emulations to work with. You won't find any of the monitor emulations or control rooms here, but we'd struggle to feel hard done by that considering the price tag here.

The interface is unencumbered by an overload of controls and instead features just three knobs; input, depth % and output. Using these controls, you can fine tune and create new variations of the headphones and room you can work with, and can save these versions as your own presets.

While it is compatible, it should be noted that Acustica is advising anyone with the full version of Sienna (Volume A) not download this as it can cause a downgrade of the product.

Sienna Free is available for Windows and macOS (VST/AU/AAX). Claiming it isn't the most straightforward process and requires you to have an account with Acustica as well as downloading their Acquarius desktop app to redeem the plugin. Instructions on how to download are available using the link below.
