Free Software Friday - Spitfire Audio BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

Updated 15/07/22

Back in early 2020, Spitfire Audio released BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover and presented users with an interesting price point; £49 or free when completing a questionnaire and waiting for two weeks. Now, the instrument library is completely free without any of the wait.

Featuring 33 instruments across brass, woodwind, strings and percussion that's neatly packaged into just 200 MB, this instrument library is phenomenally good, and Spitfire's high-quality recording and attention to player nuance has been captured exceptionally well.

It's compatible with all major DAWs from GarageBand to Pro Tools and features a similar, easy-to-use UI that fans of the LABS instruments will no doubt recognise.

BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover is available for Windows and macOS and can be downloaded for free using the link below.
