After developing the business from campuses in Plymouth and Cornwall to Bristol in 2012, dBs Music has recently outgrown their Temple Studios facilities near Temple Meads train station and is making the move into a huge new building near Cabot’s Circus. This will be in addition to the dBs Music Bristol HE [Higher Education] centre located in Redcliffe and will see dBs Music and it’s newly launched sister college The Institute Of Digital Creatives educating over 600 students in Bristol from September.
dBs Music Director, Nigel Burt explained, “We came to Bristol originally as it was a melting pot of creativity and it fits our company ethos perfectly. Since then we’ve seen fantastic growth and have students from all over the world studying for a degree or diploma with us. We’ve always been 100% focused on delivering the best possible learning environment for our students with state of the art equipment and facilities, so expanding into even bigger and better facilities was what was needed to meet the growing student numbers.
Our brand new building will be the home for all of our diploma and access students at dBs Music and the base for our new digital media college, The IDC, which will help train the next generation of digital creatives, with a heavy focus on video game design, interactivity and virtual reality.”
The new building features an enormous recording space with four recording studios, a virtual reality and games design studio. Plus, a TV studio with Infinity wall, four Apple Mac suites and multiple DJ pods and rehearsal rooms. All packed full of the latest recording gear, software and Instruments for the dBs Music students and VR, film and development kit needed for the new students at The Institute Of Digital Creatives.
Miriam Venner, Director of The IDC added, “We are so excited about the new building as a home for The IDC! The new space and facilities will be like no other college and when you pair that with our expert tutors and the fact that our innovative game design and media students will be able to socialise and collaborate with the creative music and audio students at dBs Music – it’s going to be such an incubator for talent in Bristol.
